Was not to sure about intimidation but I have been slowly building it up. So far I am at 53 at skill and at that level it works about 25% of the time so i am going to continue to build it up. I found when it does work we can fear kite very well and do some good damgage while not taking any which is great for soloing which I been doing most of the time with only grouping a few times. Another thing I found was that when it does work we sometimes kick the mob if they are close (I didn't know that was part of it
).Last edited by Kessollar : 02-29-2004 at 02:25 AM. |

It has been a while since I had played my Rogue. However, the kick is one of the two things that must land to get intim to work....
One is you must land your Kick.... the other is you must get a sucessful sv check (if memory serves me right) |

Kick may not apply for us when using intimidation. Notice Kessollar's magelo shows his skill at 1.

I'm now a big believer in intimidation. Was soloing the little raging kobold camp along the river in Stonebrunt today. No PL going on...standard bandage to half health and pull technique. Killed a 2 pull (the kobolds are rather wimpy) and got jumped by a blue to me monkey. I was at about 15% health...certain death. Snare got resisted. I started swinging at the monkey and pressed intimidate out of desperation. For once, I was scaring someone and the monkey took off like a scalded ape. I limped in the opposite direction and bandaged up. Saved me a death and that miserable scamper through the Warrens.

I have been dumping points into intimidation. When I got to around 80 though I noticed it was rising a lot faster although still slow. So after a LDoN fight in BB I headed to NL picked out a blue mob got it down under 20% so that it would start running then snared in and took attack off. I then stayed there keep the mobs back to me while I practiced intimidation and kick (although I don't think it is neccassary I believe it does add to the success of weather or not it fears them). And after about 2 hours I got the skill up to 101 and kick got in the 20's starting from 1. As I neared 101 I noticed that about more or less 50% of the time I feared the mob ( rubs hands together evily ). I am going to max this out for my level and hopefully I will then be able to keep it up with my others skills as I solo my levels.
And yes I know that fear kiting may not seem very Zerkerish, but I look at it this way this is more like a sport or a past-time now for Berserkers. |

Scaring the living daylights out of enemies so they run in fear seems an ideal berserker way of fighting to me, a berserker in the midst of blood lust bearing down on an enemy should be a frightening sight

Skilling up Intimidation.
Intimidation does it's skill check at the end of the cycle. It cannot make a skill up if your special attack (Kick/Frenzy) is greyed out. Since Intimidate refreshes slower than Kick, make it a good habit to just kick only after you see the Intimidate message (your are not scaring/soandso flees). You can skill-up Intimidation on anything you can target, reglardless of distance or status. From corpses to mobs, pc's, pets, and even boats. You can use the skill while moving. Everytime you enter a new zone, target anything, then start grinding the Intimidate button while you are running through, chatting, whatever. Keybind it to another key (like F12 or SysRq) and you can even use the skill while typing in the chatbox. Last edited by mortis42 : 02-29-2004 at 03:30 PM. Reason: added title |

Bah there are 2 other threads on the subject of intimidation. Why do we keep starting new threads on subject that have already been made?

Mortis you are right about that you can get skills up on just about anything you can target however I have found that it rises faster on a live mob for some reason. Plus I think it is just plain funny and cruel at the same time to milk a mob like that plus I have been getting my kick up.

ahh, have one correction to make...
a while back, musta been a few months or so, Intimidate was changed so that it will still work if your kick/frenzy is greyed out... heh, i suppose i should get to a trainer and train intim and try it out.... just gotta find a zone where everything wont aggro on me so i cna train like Kessollar did, hmm, NL sounds like a good idea, hehe |
